much like the clouds that drift across the jeonju sky, those who have taken root in the cafe seem to always come and go. in this way, cuun is formed as a space where visitors feel as if they’re sitting on a cloud.Ĭuun is a cafe where one can ponder upon the passing and stillness of time. some have sunken as if waiting upon someone’s arrival, others have risen high above, ready to move on, while some others hover neither quite high, nor very low. within the interior, twenty two different ‘clouds’ take shape as places of rest in various forms. Located in the heart of jeonju hanok village, cuun by studio maoom, reflects the village’s own stark contrast of traditional and modern urban architecture, with its untouched, rough concrete walls and crisp white furniture.
